What is climate change?
Climate change is a natural process of fluctuations in weather patterns on a global scale. Although this process is natural, humans have greatly influenced its speed and intensity. Figure One outlines the process of climate change, and hints at how this process may change the climate of the Earth.
Figure One: Outlining the steps that create the greenhouse effect, and lead to climate change.

What is the greenhouse effect?
The greenhouse effect is the warming of the earth as heat energy is caught up in the atmosphere, blocked off from escaping into space. Small atmospheric particles, known as greenhouse gases, are the main culprits for this effect. Greenhouse gases can be emitted on large scales by human industries such as agriculture and coal mining, which then get caught up in the atmosphere and disallows heat to escape. It is important we monitor the impact climate change has on species such as the Common Wombat, so we are aware of how severe the impact on our local environments will be and can make government policy to address this problem accordingly.
